Reynold Apparatus

The apparatus consists of a glass tube mounted vertically and connected to a constant head water tank. At the other end, a valve is provided to vary the flow rate of fluid flowing through this glass tube. Glass tube has a bell mouth entrance where a capillary tube is introduced in centre of the tube for feeding dye from a small container placed at the top of tank. By varying the rate of flow of water, the Reynolds's number is changed. This also changes the type of flow. Visual observation of dye (Thread) will indicate the type of flow, which can be confirmed from the Reynolds number computed. Controlled water supply with flow measuring arrangement, for the set-up, is to be provided by the end user. Otherwise to operate this accessory, end user should have Hydraulic Bench, which will provide controlled water supply and flow rate measurement facility.
